Cheapest stereo.. most features.. reliability? TBD
Pros
SD USB RCA CD AUX hook up anything. Great price point for an old car.
Cons
Vol knob beep is dumb. I know i'm turning up the volume thanks.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
How can you go wrong with those features and that price. Don't live with that old FoMoCo stereo in your old ragged out ride.
I picked up this european market stereo at the local walmart. I already drive 2 imports (from right hand drive countries) that have the radio knob on the wrong side.. So I didnt notice right away, but sure enough.. its on the wrong side. This radio has an ameircan or european freq tuning switch (am in england can use longwave.. does this radio?) ITs a fairly cheap looking stereo.. which you get for buying a cheap stereo (walmart's cheapest). mine happens to be in a mercedes.. but its 20 years old. Using 1986 factory speakers, the sound is just fine. I am not a teen trying to thump my way down the road, but I do like my music to sound nice. The stereo easily overdrives my old speakers.
I havent found a way to turn off the annoying beep that happens every time you turn the volume knob.
The SD card, USB and Audio jack all work nicely. Quite convenient considering the cost. Of course installation is standard. Has a power antenna lead as well as a dash light lead (for dimmer? my mercedes doesnt have). Also has RCA in and out. I love the flexibility to hook whatever i want to it.
My experience with cheap electronics is, they fail, or fall apart and get ugly. Neat thing about this stereo is, If your disk drive fails, you have 3 systems and the broadcast to fall back on.
