A trusty workhorse
I have had my Vivitar 285 for many years without any problems. I like the fact that it is automatic in the different preset ranges and does an excellent job. I bought my Vivitar 285 flash in 1983. I traveled around the world with it. I used it through art school and for many years after. To my absolute surprise and horror, it died last year the night before I was to photograph a group of 75 people!

Great for off-camera!
This flash is great for off-camera lighting. It is easy to quickly adjust the flash power with the dial on the front and my remote triggers fire the flash just fine.
