Gotta be good for being around this long
I picked up a second hand Vivitar 283 to use as a fill flash for outdoor shooting with my D1x. One word of coution about these units: older ones can (and probably will) fry your digital camera with sync voltages that can reach upwards of 400 volts. the cheap professional flash?
If you look at reviews for this flash, it seems to be widely recognized as an excellent flash for a bargain of a price. This is Vivitar's lowest model flash that has manual controls and as such, many people are grabbing it up as a cheap flash compared to their camera manufacturer's counterparts... Read full review »
A lot of flash for the money.
Early last month I shot a roll of Ektachrome at the Tucson Day of the Dead parade, mainly through a 135 mm f/2.8 "teleportrait" prime lens, from roughly fifty feet away from the subjects.
