BUY THE BEST & YOU WON'T REGRET IT....
Pros
Most top brands are at the top for a reason....Not that much more for quality....
Cons
The bad brands are there for a reason...Not that much less than a major brand...
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Not that much more & you'll have the best picture quality along with peace of mind...
Have been in retail for 10 years.... Seen a - lot of returns & have noticed the brands that usually keep coming back...
RCA - only tube tv's & dvd or vhs players (4 to 5 years ago)
Philips - only tube tv's & dvd or vhs players (4 to 5 years ago)
---------------------------------------------
MAXENT - Plasma screen seems to rattle when volume is turned up & picture may go out & never come back - for no reason... (even when we took them out of the box & set them up as displays)
Vizio - Plasma or LCD usually come back as a return from 6 months to 4 years later with issues like: Blue lines running across screen - high pitch noise - picture starts to flip for about 10 to 15 seconds & then returns to normal - volume going in & out - screen starts to turn a dull yellow as with all colors - the picture just went out totally.
----------------------------------------------
For some folks Vizio or Maxent is all they can afford & I don't blame them... BUT as for the amount of returns a company can get from the 2 manufactures is not good.
I would only buy LCD for Hi-Def & ONLY: Sharp - Sony - Toshiba - Panasonic & Philips (lcd pictures is too dark compaired to the other brands but they almost never come back as a return).
(these brands are NOT that much more in price for the quality that seems to last - as they almost never come back as a return for quality issues - if one does it seems that the unit it self is totally defective (lemon) but you'll know it right away - not in 6 months to a year wating for a problem.
---------------------------------------------
One of the best ways to rule out problems & prolong the life of your LCD - PLASMA or REAR PROJECTION is to buy a battery back up / UPS unit.... (a 1000 watt unit is best)
---------------------------------------------
"Funny" - Customers usually say this - "I / we see Vizio / Maxent as returned item before we leave the store all the time.... ARE they good?" ----- I usually say me too.... & I'am told to say that all the sets are good & chatty kathy all the way down the lane "this is good, this is good also & this is good too"....
----------How can this be when some are returned all the time & some are never returned? return policy can change from year to year but good brands are easy to spot - just spend the little extra & have peace of mind & the best quality.... no one want's to but when there is a problem in a year or 2 most people would say I would have paid more so I don't have to have any headaches down the road.... I agree....
