Vizio L37 37" HDTV LCD TV

I finally was ready to make the HDTV plunge due to the great price of this TV. The salesman warned me about the contrast, but I found the picture to be acceptable (considering that it's such a low cost product). The unit had no defects, and had a very good manual. In general, the TV worked just fine, but my priorities may be unusual. But the entire HDTV world is new to me (being a baby boomer), and there are drawbacks that one can't find in a spec sheet. 1) The volume control only controls the volume of the internal speakers (that sound pretty crummy). So you have to use the remote from the stereo or sound system to control volume. Who wants one more remote? 2) I knew the PIP would not work on 2 TV stations, but I thought I could use the tuner in the VCR to tune into a second TV signal. That doesn't work, at least not with the hookups my Sony VCR has. 3) I tried several new DVD movies and none filled the screen. I (with the help of a couple younger experts) tried every possible setting change, but made no progress. I never could figure out if I expected too much, if my Sony DVD player was lacking, or I'm just clueless. I plan to return the TV, and crawl back into my happy analog world.
