The Bottom Line:
Bottom line is this tv is the best bang for your dollar But there are some issues
I am updating again in middle of Dec. and January and slightly downgrading for the negatives I gave below the brightness or lack of brightness. After seeing many hdtvs this year I think thats the one big difference between great hd tvs the brightness and contrast. This has the contrast, not sure it has the brightness though . . Still its a very very good tv.. now back to older review: as I watch the football on Sunday and World Series Ok I was going to write a short review, but while watching this tv countless times, I thought I would write a longer review because I thought thats what this tv needed. First off, tvs have gotten incredibly better the last year so its really hard to compare this tv to crop of new tvs. In comparisons to last year models this tv is great. In the stores the tvs look the same.. But this is a Very Good tv if not fantastic. I wrote it was the best tv I ever saw initially but now having second thoughts. Its a great tv but the picture is slightly less bright or more dark then others I have seen. I don't know if its because of the energy saving feature or not. To put it bluntly, even though people have not described the darker then usal picture even after adjusting except one other person.. its still mind boggling the clarity and resolution. For this price you really get to see hd quality broadcasts. whatever technology Vizio uses, is very good. To be honest I don't have any idea how someone can rate this 4 stars. I don't care if they call it 720 or 1080p or i, this tv is great. I don't know how Vizio makes money though.First off I have an element at home, and I thought it was the best. Since I have watched the World Series at my friends on this Vizio, I was amazed I actually liked his better. The contrast ratio is 15,000 to one and while some Vizios are even better I have yet to see them. However the resolution on the Vizio is fantastic. The difference between this and Element is the resolution. The element has a great picture, slightly brighter then the vizio but the vizio is like watching real time action the element is like watching a great video. The Vizio colors are great, the green is very very slightly off but not much. I had an rca hd where the colors were off greatly.
The sound is great and has stereo. The tv brings in crystal clear sharp reception without a special antenna although my friend could not get local abc station. You might have to scan for stations a couple times and move a regular indoor antenna round but eventually it brings in all the stations. The tv weighs like 29 pounds. The only thing I would worry about is if the same model plays as good as the one I saw and if it lasts ( I don't know if it will or not).. This is incredible technology at a price that is unbelievable. I want to get this brand someday soon, who wants to buy a digital camcorder and camera? lol. What else can I say except this tv is the best bang for your dollar I have seen out there but like I said I can't compare to this years crop of tvs.. Its truly a show stopper in technology for the money. I will repeat that, I don't think I ever saw a tv that someone actually owned (as oppossed a store where they all look good) without special antennas that looked so good in hd however I now think its not as great as I originally thought. Time has a way to make technology seem outdated faster.. If you waited this long to get hd, its time to jump in. I can't see the prices getting much lower for this kind of quality. However one caveat like I mentioned if brightness matters for you like it did for me, you might want to weigh the pros and cons.Vizio claim the dark areas are what make the definition that good and its hard to argue. I still think now having updated this tvs review it is a bit of a under performer compared to newer tvs out now
