The Bottom Line:
I think that people should check out several binoculars and then compare them to the Vortex Vipers.
I have owned several kinds of binoculars over the years. These Vipers are exceptional. They are easy to focus, easy to change distances and extremely bright, even in dim light. I bought these to view whales in Maui in January 2008. Have not left on the trip yet but have tried these out at home to get a feel for them. I first tried them out on a dark, dreary, rainy day in Fresno, California. I could not believe how bright they are. They have a locking diopter adjustment which is also easy to set. They come with a well padded case, rain guards for the eye pieces and a decent neck strap. I am sorry that I did not have these in the past. I opted for the 10 X 42 instead of the standard 8 X 42 because I wanted the extra magnification. I am pleased. These were voted the best binoculars by Field & Stream magazine in 2007. I made a good choice. I compared these to cheaper binoculars and much more expensive ones. I do believe that these were my best choice. I paid $479 from Eagle Optics. Their delivery was great. I ordered them on Saturday and received them on Wednesday. Very fast delivery, even in the peak of the Christmas season.
