First lamp burned out wihtin 1 year. Next one lasted 2 years, 5 months - the last year it was nowhere near as bright as it was.
DLP is great if you use lots of regular def and games since it will not burn in.
1st lamp was free under warranty. 2nd lamp was $280. 3rd lamp was $140. So prices are coming down. It is Jan 2009 and bought in May 2005 - and its now getting the 3rd lamp - use that as your guide for time in service.
Thus unit gives a GREAT picture with only a few violet halos on sports and other fast moving images - not bad - just you notice its a little bluer than it should be.
Images are crisp. Plenty of inputs but shows its age in that there are 3 component inputs, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI. S-Video on the front for a game console.
Decent side and does not require a mount. Bulky and heavier than plasma but also a fraction of the price.
