Overall good television
Pros
wonderful picture, great features, beautiful television
Cons
Customer support terrible, DVR questionable, menus difficult
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Absolutely a wonderful display and the picture is worth the drawbacks if you are only using it for a display. Falls short on customer service, DVR usage, and menu operation.
This television performs wonderfully as simply a television. The picture is crystal clear and in a year of use I have never had any problems with its quality (as a display).
The menus are a little difficult to use if you are not good with electronics, and using the built-in DVR is fairly difficult to use even if you are good with electronics. My problem has been with recording live television with the DVR. Several shows that I could record last year are copyrighted this year and I am unable to record and replay them. These shows are over the air not cable or satellite. This may be a simple software upgrade (which is not difficult with this particular television). Customer support however has not returned one of my four emails over the last 3 months to discuss this problem.
As a display only, this is an excellent product. If you are purchasing it to avoid a separate DVR or paying fees for Tivo, etc., skip it. I believe the features that come with this model such as the anti-glare screen and sharp-edge technology are worth the price even with the drawbacks of the DVR.
The customer service through mitsubishi, however, is disappointing. Be sure to purchase through a reputable store with their own warranty plans (if customer service is a concern) so that you can work with them directly if there are an concerns.
Concerning the menus, have your video routed through a good receiver that will handle all your switching needs. This will simplify any concerns with the menu functionality.
Above average rating is based on its excellent picture as my sound and most functions are controlled by a stereo receiver.
