The Bottom Line:
It's a great price, but you do indeed get what you pay for.
I thought that this would be a good deal. I know that it's only 720p, but for a kitchen TV I wasn't too demanding and focused on cost more than features. Unfortunately the sound can't be turned up enough to hear it over the typical kitchen din and the screen colors are very washed out. I'm going to go buy small computer speakers to see if the audio output can be handled by dedicated speakers. I really hadn't anticipated needing to buy external speakers for a kitchen TV, but standing less than 10 feet away I can't hear it if anything is going on in the kitchen or dining room and when I can hear it it's very tinny with absolutely no bass response.
Oddly enough, when you press a key on the remote control it seems to take several seconds for the TV to respond to my command (yes, new batteries installed) and the remote is huge. I know that the remote is large because of all the DVI, HDMI, and other potential inputs but God help you if you ever lose it. There are seven buttons on the right side of the unit, none of which are labeled in any way at all. I learned that the bottom button turns it on and off but have no idea what the other buttons do.
The remote does have three "favorite" buttons and I really like that, but I find myself pressing them multiple times because I can't tell if it took or not. If not for the hassle I would return it to Geeks.com. I have a Bravia upstairs and try to remember that I spent over $1,000 more for the Bravia than the Westinghouse, but I'm still pretty disappointed and would steer you away from this TV. I don't expect the 19" Westinghouse to perform as well as a 44" Bravia, but I do expect it to perform to basic functions of having a respectable screen and listenable audio.
