The Bottom Line:
If it says Westinghouse, just walk away and don't look back, no matter what the price!
White Westinghouse used to be a great quality American company. Now, Westinghouse is overseas, and runs a cookie cutter, quick build operation, in my personal opinion and that of every repairman I have spoken with.
About a year after my husband purchased this tv, we came home from a trip to find the buzzing in the speakers I have seen others on the net talk about. Eventually, that is all you could hear. Well, this was the one time my husband didn't purchase the extended warranty.
We went to a local repair shop to find an identical tv mostly taken apart and lying on the guys desk. He told us, " Don't buy a Westinghouse, they don't last. The company is now is Thailand or Korea, the parts take forever to get here and half the time they don't work when they do get here, plus the customer has to pay high shipping fees. Go get a new tv." Well, we had an extra surround sound so we put it on and that solved that.
Then last night, in the middle of a favorite show, the picture went black. Couldn't see a thing. a couple hours later, it came back on for all of 5 minutes, now... nothing but black. Do not buy a Westinghouse. You will probably regret it. I know I do, especially since my husband paid $1,200. He went to a furniture store without me and thought he was getting a good deal on a floor model. He is no longer allowed to shop for major purchases alone!
