An odd unit of the bunch...
The Whistler Group has and is introducing varies detectors to the many consumers on the market. They compete with Uniden and Cobra, and lower budget Escort, and Beltronics detectors. Whistler has provider middle class and below detectors since the 90s, and mid-upper class in the 80s.

Radar Detector Compass
I picked up a DE-1765 in a pawn shop in 2004 for about $40. I was intrigued by the shape and the compass feature.
Radar detection is passable, similar to other Whistlers of 2002-3 vintage. I have used it almost exclusively in the city, preferring to use my Valentine or other detectors...

Only to be used in states which are not prohibited
I loved the compass and the design of this detector, unfortunetly it was taken away from me once I crossed the border into Canada. The item was on sale, so I didn't lose out on that much money but the ticket was almost triple the price, so be aware once you are crossing into territory where these... Read full review »

I've only owned this detector a few weeks but am fairly impressed with it. I've used a Uniden LRD 2000 for 7 years and thought it was time for an update.
