Don't waste your $$$$

Pros Nice dashboard decoration, might keep you awake when you're driving drowsy
Cons Doesn't detect radar
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Spend more $$$ and get a near-top-of-the-line BEL or better
I have had this unit for about 6 months. I returned the Whistler 1650 I originally purchased because I drove right beside active photo radar and it didn't make so much as a peep. But as soon as I turned the corner, and was passing a shopping mall with automatic doors, it went off like crazy! People, if I wanted to have a shopping mall detector with me, I could have brought my wife for free. So I returned the Whistler, and ended up grabbing something else in that same price range (under $200). This Fuzzbuster is no better. I have already returned it once, and the store would only replace it with the same model because I was beyond the 2 week return window. I have driven by photo radar many times, and regular radar traps a few times, and it never makes a peep. It goes berserk though at times in the middle of nowhere, and I can't figure out what is triggering it. There is one freeway overpass that triggers it sometimes with a strong signal, sometimes the VG2, sometimes the Instant On, but it is always triggered at this location I pass every day, and there is never radar, automatic doors or anything else but concrete there. Not a building within half a mile! I can only conclude that my friends were right..."if you're going to buy a cheap Radar Detector, don't buy one at all." But how can manufacturers get away with making such junk? A radar detector that doesn't detect radar.....hmmmm. How would consumers react if they bought photocopiers that don't photocopy, or stoves that don't cook? Why should this be any different? I would love to have a tech rep from Fuzzbuster explain to me what makes this thing work...I wouldn't be surprised if I cracked it open and found a marble and a pair of dice inside. In fact these lousy detectors actually work the opposite: they're like the boy who cried wolf. There are so many false alarms, but since you spent the money you still hang on to some hope that some day it will save you a speeding ticket. So you leave it on all the time, kinda thinking that you're protected. So you're speeding more often with a false sense of security.
