The Bottom Line:
I spent $35 on this...if you can find it that cheap you cant go wrong, and its worth well more than that price.
I bought this radar detector on ebay and I have not experienced a problem with it whatsoever.
The messaging service system is never used by my county and state so I never receive any emergency codes or info, etc...that may vary
It is definitely unreadable when the sun is shining into the vehicle, unless you cup your hand over it to block the light out. Its not an enormous hassle, especially when you dont use the silent feature. I purposely have the voice and vocal alert activated because I often play music and want to make sure I hear it. Also there is a temporary vocal alert option for radar but it reverts to silent alert after a few seconds. After receiving a ticket due to this vocal/silent feature being used, I made sure that I could always hear the radar alert regardless of how long I was in the vicinity of that radar. I learned my lesson. It can be annoying during a conversation when you receive the "x band" alerts. If this is the case, I usually unplug it for a minute while Im talking.
Its plenty loud enough when the volume is turned up, mounts easily, is pretty stylish looking, and decent on radar detection. Its great from my experience when it comes to straight on detection, without anything such as a building inhibiting the radar. It wont save you from a cop who turns his radar on just before you drive by, but hopefully you will have seen him by then. In every case it alerted me in time to slow down and prevent myself from receiving a ticket. Isnt that the reason we buy these? Great product for the exceptional deal I received.
