Ready for Prime Time?
Tivo have changed the way we watched TV. However, not everyone wants to pay for the monthly service that goes along with it. The free "basic" is too basic to be useful. So what else is there?

One good Media recorder
Why did I choose this?
I got a DVD recorder when my Sony SLV-81 VCR stopped working, but the DVD recorder had only 4 recording slots. So the DVD recorder went back to Radio Shack, and I got Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Media Center Edition 2005 and an EVGA nViDiA NVTV from Newegg.com.

Solid and fun but probably wont capture the living room yet.
I recently bought a refurbished Dell Dimension 8400 for mainly business use and part of the package was the new Windows Media Center 2005. In some ways I wish it didn't come with the media center because, of course, the new toy has to be played with and I spent my first week of setup playing more... Read full review »
