DSP-A100 How amazing!

Pros Hundreds of inputs and superior decoding technology for amazing sound quality.
Cons Slightly outdated and sometimes hard to get spare parts and user manuals.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It will last forever and even if new technology emerges, it will still be an outstanding unit.
The Yamaha DSP-A1000 was a breakthrough piece of equipment when it was first launched, and is a slightly less complicated version of the famous Yamaha DSP-A1, which I believe was released more recently. While writing this review I am currently listening to music playing through this outstanding piece of equipment, it manages to decode the stereo signal perfectly, to give a very clear and flawless sound.
I purchased a second hand DSP-A1000 this Christmas in search for something very special, it had no history as it had been used in the sound industry and the person I bought it off was just a passer on. I had no Idea what to expect, but after getting it home and eagerly plugging in my hundreds of audio devices (for which this has plenty of inputs), and hooking it up to four Eltax 6.2's and centre speaker, I was pleased that it powered up perfectly. (I put this down to it being a very sturdy unit, and weighing in at 23kg it was most likely that it had not been moved around much)

Before purchasing this amplifier I had spent a long time deciding what to play first, it had to be challenging in both high and low ends, and have to use a complicated mixture of both left and right channels; I settled for Elation Station by Infected Mushroom. Once I started playing this piece of music I could instantly hear things that I had never heard in this piece of music before, the Dolby decoder worked perfectly, and the sound seemed to be coming from all around me, and not just individual corners of the room where I had placed the speakers. It is as if I had placed speakers all of the way round myself and there was no noticeable join between the front and rear speakers sound.

The DSP-A1000 has really impressed me, even though it is an older amplifier it still has amazing quality; it manages to decode stereo signal into perfect 7.2 surround. Because of the age of this amplifier it has dropped dramatically in price, and is affordable to those wanting to look into the world of high end audio. I particularly love it as there will always be enough inputs for all of my audio devices, whether they are in stereo or surround signals; there are also a host of s-video inputs for your visual equipment as well.
The amazing thing about it is that my amplifier came with no remote, and I have not been able to adjust some of the more advanced features or this machine; for me it has worked straight of the box, and has worked perfectly.

I highly recommend anyone to purchase one of these amplifiers, as they are quality and were a breakthrough in modern audio technology. It is more common to come across the Yamaha DSP-A1 than the A1000, and there is often confusion whether the DSP-A1000 is the same as the A1 as the names are similar and their construction is identical.

So please keep reading reviews and looking at the specifications on the DSP-A1000, if you do buy one you won't be disappointed. Listen and enjoy!
