Glad I bought it. Just plug it in and watch it go VROOM!

byvne193 May 11, 2003
Pros All the inputs/outputs I needed and then some.
Cons Took me a while programming all the settings.(although its default settings are fine)
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  The highest praise that I can give to any purchase is that I have no buyers remorse. I don't have any with this.
I purchased this about 3 months ago, so i can't attest to it's long term reliability, but I have yet to have any problems what so ever or any significant complaints. I have, however, had plenty of good things to say about it to all my friends that have seen and heard it. I bought it based on its mid-range price, compared to all the other Yamaha receivers available. I researched all brands and found that Yamaha is well known for making excellent receivers (even the Bose rep that I got my speakers from said to get a Yamaha, not one of the Bose receivers that he would have gotten a commission from). The plug-ins in the back are well laid out, in terms of spacing and accessibility, and it's very easy to figure out what goes where because everything is labeled so well. It connects all my components, plus some I wish I had. Whether I'm watching the TV, a DVD, the VCR, playing video games, listening to CD's, or just the radio, it works and sounds great. I am deployed overseas right now, and live in the same building with all the other officers in my unit. Every time one of us gets a new movie, we all pile into my room to watch it. Between this receiver and the Bose Acoustimass 6 speakers, it is like being in a theatre. This receiver is that good. It does require some reading to get the most out of it, but the instruction book that comes with it is pretty well written and the default settings are just fine if you don't want to attempt adjusting the settings. I would recommend it to one of my friends, and that is something I rarely do.
