The Bottom Line:
Highly recommended if you want an impressive sound and functionality that will last for a long time.
A home theater BEAST! I have been a professional home theater installer for over 4 years and this is one of the best commercial receivers on the market. Every time I have installed one of these, I have been astounded by its performance and sound quality. This is a fully capable receiver featuring 9.1 surround sound (front right and left, subwoofer, right and left front phantoms, right and left side rear, and right and left rears) with DTS, Dolby Digital, Powered Zone 2, Passive Zone 3, Cinema DSP, learning universal remote, Component video, S-Video (who uses that anymore?), and compostive video inputs/outputs. This unit also has all the optical toslink and digital coaxial inputs one could realistically need. This unit is one of the best in audio reproduction I have ever heard. Though, the new RX-Z11 is even better. But if you want a high end audio receiver and aren't too worried about HD video upscaling, this is the one for you. This only real down side to this unit is its hefty price tag (until recently sometimes as high as $3000), and its weight. This is not the receiver for you if you want something that's easy to move by yourself as this thing weighs over 100 lbs easily. Overall, this is an impressive unit for audiophiles, music, and movie lovers.
