Great Product.. period.
Pros
Dolby Digital, DTS, Great Bass, Clean Treble, Great PRICE!
Cons
5.1 feature only applies on Digital Input.. meaning: your games will sound 4.1
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you're seriously love music but have a tight budget, go for the Yamaha TSS1. It's worth every cent of it.
If you're looking for a 5.1 speaker system for under $180 to fill up your small - mid size room, this is the speaker for ya!!
PRO:
The bass quality is unbelieveable!! They are using ActiveServo to generate deep bass level. The treble is also not dissapointing. I'm using a regular Sony headphone that sounded like awful on my office computer speaker. When I took it home and tried in with the TSS1, omg.. what a difference!
I don't know what to tell ya... it's just that great!
CON:
I have a Nakamichi Soundspace 3 (a very good alarm/radio/cd system) that have a digital out and I hooked it up to TSS1. The sound get distributed evenly among the 5 speakers. This unfortunately creates a surround system that's not crisp to the ear. There's probably a function to set it up right but I can't figure out how.
NOTE:
I previously purchased Inspire 5.1 for $90. Inspire has very limited functions and the sound quality is far inferior than TSS1. If you're seriously love music but have a tight budget, go for the Yamaha TSS1. It's worth the money.
