Pump up the volume! What do you mean, it is up?

Pros Cheap, cheap, cheap! Nice little sound, 2 inputs
Cons Maximum volume causes distortion, no non-adjustable output
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Durable, decent sound - simple as that. Maybe a little "big" for some users. The sound quality suffers with a high volume level.
Small speakers at a low price... Often that's a risk, you expect the sound to be awful. I'm suprised, still, 18 months later, with the nice sound I get out of my little Yamaha YST M7's.

Primarily, I'd say the YST M7 range is for the home computer system. But being on a budget and also needing a set of speakers for my personal CD player (Panasonic SL-S222, review elsewhere) I decided to buy speakers that would suit both needs.

The "main" speaker has a series of inputs, outputs and an adjustable volume knob which controls the volume on both speakers. The inputs are impressive, two 35mm phono jacks which allowed me to connect my PC and my CD player, both via the Line-out sockets.

As I used the speakers for my CD player, essentially as a hi-fi system, I needed half decent sound quality. I was satisfied with this, although I felt you couldn't pump it up that much due to the distortion level. But then again, I had extraordinary uses for them, I suppose.

The units are quite durable. Although they remain fixed most of the time, they've moved around a lot and haven't damaged in transit. They're still going strong 18 months later and the sound is as good as when I first bought them.

Although they don't get used as much with my CD player now, having bought a new hifi (Sony CMT-CP33MD), they stil get used with my PC and produce a nice output.

It's a little annoying not being able to use them as a "pass-through". The input/output sockets don't work unless power is supplied when it is, the only other output is the headphone socket or the back "out" socket, which is valume adjustable. I'd like to have been able to use them to connect to my Hifi (to record MP3s) without having to mess around with computer cabling and bypassing the speakers.

I'm a happy customer, I think you would be too upon buying these.
