Yamaha YST-MSW10 Speakers

Let's get one thing clear. Most of the new speaker systems being marketed for PCs are trash. Sorry, but they are. There are very few speakers that can produce QUALITY sound and fit on your desk. Yes, yes, I know this is a subwoofer. I run full size home theater speakers on my PC at home. At work (?) I run a Yamaha system (not 5.1). I have this sub under my desk for deep bass effect. There is no way you are going to have a good game experience or even musical enjoyment without a GOOD subwoofer. Once you have experienced a quality sub, you'll never be without one.

This sub is one of the best for the size and money. Many of the small subs being offered were slapped together to get them on the market. No care was given to the design. Since most people buying them don't know what a real sub should sound like, they just lay down the money and go home.

The Yamaha sub goes pretty low. It will not sound like a good 12 inch subwoofer (100+ watts) you might have in your home theater system. But it does work well under a desk or with games. It is not too boomy like many subs. I actually have two of these subs. One is collecting dust! The product has worked flawlessly for years. Don't be fooled by a cheap price! You will get what you pay for! A good powered sub must be made out of non-resonating materials. If your sub is light and flimsy because it is made of cheap plastic-throw it away. The best subs are made of MDF (medium density fiberboard). Look at the back of the sub box. You should see fiberboard. A good quality amp will last for years and have the power to provide the punch a good sub has to make. A cheap amp just won't hold up to the demands placed on it by DVDs and certain games.

If you must have a sub and cannot afford or have the room for full-size speakers, this sub is a very good choice
