Excellent Pictures!

Pros Compact, excellent optics, waist level finder, easy to use and take everywhere
Cons Focus lock is a bit too sensitive to hold halfway down without tripping shutter
Recommended it? Yes
I bought a silver version of this camera and I shot my first roll of Ilford HP5 Plus in it. I shoot black and white pretty much all the time and do my own darkroom stuff. I was absolutely amazed by the excellent quality of the pictures! The exposure was extremely accurate for the whole roll, and the pictures were all razor sharp. It is a very easy camera to use. I like the infinity lock feature, which helps you then point the focusing circle on something to meter for exposure, and then you don't have to worry about where it focuses. You can sort of bracket that way because the camera doesn't change focus when you do landscapes. This camera is one that you can take everywhere because it's so light.

The problem was that the first camera I bought happened to have a problem with the pressure plate being a bit too firm and made a tiny scratch along the entire length of the negative. I got a replacement and so far there are no problems. Also, being a small point and shoot camera, it does not appear that any of these types of cameras will last decades, especially since they have so many electronic parts and are made of plastic, but I believe it could last at least 5-10 years, depending on use. But at only $150, I think I could afford to replace it if it dies after that amount of time.

Another small problem is that it is difficult to hold the button down halfway to lock on focus without inadvertently tripping the shutter. It's a little too sensitive, so one must be careful.

The quality of the photos is the same as with some of my expensive SLR lenses, yet the ease of use is so much better! I absolutely love the waist level finder. You can pretend you're fiddling with the controls of your camera, but you can then take pictures of people in public and they'll never know. It's an excellent feature.

I'm an advanced amateur of about 12 years, and I've used 35 mm equipment that has been quite expensive, but this little $150 camera delivers pictures that would fool anyone into thinking you used a $1000 camera system.

In conclusion, I think this camera could be used for many things by pros and advanced amateurs, but even a beginner could use this camera with ease. Of course one has no manual control over settings, so this camera has its limitations, but one can use it very creatively much of the time. The trick to use this camera most of the time for a pro would be to be attentive to how it is used, and the results can be excellent.
