The Bottom Line:
I recommend the Cannon Power Shot A590 IS for the average person who wants a camera to record the precious moments in life.
For my wife's birthday she asked for a new digital camera. I'm by no means made of money, but I came across the Cannon Power-shot A590 IS. For the $150 I paid the quality is outstanding. The 8 mega pixel resolution provides for attention to detail and after having some prints made at the local CVS we are quite pleased. There is a video feature, however the quality goes down, but its not horrible. It comes with software to transfer images to your computer and you can also use a USB card reader allowing for ease of transferring files. We use the Cannon A590 at soccer games, birthday parties, at family gatherings and have yet to have a problem with quality. I would suggest buying the rechargeable batteries and charger Cannon makes. The Image Stabilizer and facial recognizer works exceptional well; I do still get some red-eye from time to time. I am however a little disappointed with battery consumption. I have noticed that after the batteries go low it takes a little more time before I can take another picture. All in all, you get more then your moneys worth, and a camera that will last you for quite some time.
