Emachines T3612

I was in the search for those dirt cheap desktops. I went to Fry's Electronics on July 13, 2007 and found this desktop for 370 and with a 50 dollar rebate. I was thinking to myself, "I don't need a nice computer because all I do is surf the web and use microsoft word. So I decided to take the plunge and buy this desktop. The electronics salesman told me that the memory is pretty shabby and that I should either upgrade or buy the slightly more expensive computer. He told me, "you get what you pay for!"

The first time using it

When I turned the computer on, it took a long time to see anything on the screen. It took possibly about 5 minutes. I almost thought that the computer was broken already. Eventually, the screen did come on. There were tons of miscellaneous programs that seemed useless. So I erased most of them. The computer makes a lot buzzing noise whenever you use any of the programs. It seems to be working as hard as it can.

Problems

Connecting to the internet was a big headache. Originally I was connecting to the internet via USB network adapter. Since, this computer is on Vista, there were a myriad of problems. Eventually, by calling the Lynksys support, I finally got onto the internet.

Using Vista was not a user friendly experience. It was hard to decipher where the programs were and whatnot. Also, the computer seemed to be more suited for Microsoft XP due to the bare bones specifications. A higher powered computer seems to be more suitable for running Vista.

Two Weeks Later

So far, the computer somehow is running slightly smoother. The computer is not as noisy as it used to be. Surfing the net has been less of a pain.
