The Bottom Line:
I would definitely recommend this product . It is easy to use and well worth the money.
I have been a long-time traveler who relied mostly on Mapquest to find my way. There were many times that I found myself lost because Mapquest wasn't quite right. Well, not anymore! Thanks to my toy, the Garmin Nuvi, I will never be lost again!
I received my Garmin for Christmas. I immediately opened the package was delighted to discover that all I had to do was turn it on and it was ready to go! Nothing else to do, nothing to download or charge. I was even more impressed when I noticed that there is an SD card slot on the side. I plugged in my SD card from my digital camera and played a slide show of all my pictures. I must admit that I am not sure when I will actually use this feature while driving, but the fact that it has this feature is pretty cool. I guess if you are driving around your own area you could put in pictures and have something more interesting to look at than the navigation screen.
I compared my Garmin to other brands that my family members have and found that mine seemed to be much better. It is very light-weight and slim. Seems like older model GPS devices are much bulkier and take up a lot of space on the window. My Nuvi is very compact and only about an inch thick.
You also have the option to change from vehicle to bike or pedestrian. I have not tried to use it as a pedestrian, but I noticed that the battery doesn't seem to stay charged very long. I think that may be an issue of you are riding a bike for several miles and the battery dies out!
I love that I can plug it into my laptop and update it as needed. Things in our world are constantly changing and the need to update the program is imperative.
I will most definitely use my garmin for my future trips! Goodbye to Mapquest... HELLO Garmin Nuvi!
