Getting Started with the Motorola Droid
The basics of using a Motorola Droid. Things to help you get started.
I was very apprehensive about buying the motorola droid with the constantly changing market of cell phones. It took about five minutes of actually owning the droid to conclude that it was a great buy. These smartphones really have a lot to offer. The actual "phone" aspect of this phone is almost a secondary function. It is more of a mini computer than a phone. It has a ton of free apps to select from. Some of the best apps came already loaded on the home screen. It also has a satellite GPS and navigation program to direct you wherever you want to go.
My first word of advice for getting started using your droid is to take full advantage of the sales person selling you the phone. They should help you get it all set up and show you the basic functions of the phone. The salesman I bought my phone from set up my email account, google maps, and showed me the basics of how to use the phone.
Second, use google to search for your questions on how to do things you can't figure out how to do. There are droid forums that are very helpful and I have found that just about everything I have had questions about, other people are discussing in the forums. There are also you tube videos that show you how to do things.
Third, search online for articles about the best droid apps. This has been very useful for finding good and useful apps. The most fun thing about this phone, in my opinion, is the app market. You can find apps to do just about anything. Before you download an app it is important to read the reviews for that app.
My final word of advice is to buy a good body protector for your phone. Because of the small buttons and slide out keyboard you really need to find a cover that fits it perfectly. I found a seidio cover that fits it perfectly and I covered the screen with Invisi shield both have worked great to keep my droid looking new.
Enjoy!
