i:robe, not one to wear
Pros
Good design. Solid body and feel.
Cons
Not very portable due to dock. Red-eye no matter the setting. Flash is too powerful

I bought this camera in Tokyo two weeks ago. So far, I can tell you that it is not worth it. Unless you're buying the whole system, the dock for the camera is a pain in the butt. You need the whole dock just to connect to your computer meaning that if you travel with your camera and laptop, you also need to bring the whole dock instead of just a usb cable. Secondly, the quality of the photos are decent, but the scene modes aren't worth it. The flash is overpowering and causes red-eye no matter what the setting is. Third, it seems that Japanese are straying away from tiny gadgets. If you look at the trend in their cell phones, they seem to be getting bigger with all the stuff they're packing in them. Same goes with digicams. Cameras 1 to 2 years old were super teeny, but this ir-500 is not teeny. It's pretty hefty, but does have a good solid feel, unlike the casio exislim.
