The Bottom Line:
Buy it, you'll really like it!
Just bought this MP3 player to replace my RCA Lyra 128 that was a good little unit. I needed something small to use when I jog with an FM tuner. The iRiver is really nice, has more capabilities than I'll ever even use! You can actually record a song directly from the FM tuner if you like and it has a voice recorder too! As with anything this small, a lot of the buttons are multi-functional. With diligence and playing around with it for a few hours as well as READING the directions, the button functions all fell into place. I was concerned about the driver and Windows XP. iRiver has a note in the package to go their website and there's a patch to download. Now when I plug it into my computer using Windows Media Player, it is recognized through that program and I was able to add and erase files without any problem. I had to make a playlist first then copy to device. The iRiver 256 held about 73 songs on my first try. Battery life is great, uses 1 AA battery. It comes with an arm band carrier which may or may not last and I bought inexpensive Sony featherlite headphones since the earbuds provided just won't do it. So far I'm very pleased!
