Introduction

You probably are shopping for a portable DVD player with a built-in screen and you are wondering which DVD player to buy. I will tell you why I decided to buy the Kawasaki PVS-10921 portable DVD player.

The Kawasaki PVS-10921 Portable DVD is player is our first portable DVD player. I saw the Kawasaki PVS-10921 Portable DVD player when I was shopping at Target. One thing that caught my eyes the most about the Kawasaki PVS-10921 DVD player was the price. While most of the portable DVD players cost around $200 to $399, the Kawasaki Portable DVD player was on sale for only $149.95, the regular price was like $229.95. I bought the player right away that evening.

What do I like about this DVD player?

Beside the low price of the DVD player, there are several things that I love about the Kawasaki PVS-10921 portable DVD player:

- The screen is pretty big. The Kawasaki PVS-10921 comes with a 9 inches screen. The Panasonic portable DVD player with 9 inches screen costs around $399, so the $149.95 Kawasaki price is a lot cheaper. There is a switch on the left side of the screen to switch the screen from a wide-screen mode to a regular screen mode.

- The player comes with a small remote control. When I saw this, I was extremely happy because I can control the DVD player with a remote control. The remote control is very small, light and very easy to use.

- It can play a lot of different media format, like DVD, Music CD, Mini DVD, MP3 CD, but his player won't play a VCD format. I tried to play a VCD from Asia and the player simple won't play it. So if you want a VCD player, this player is not the one you want.

- The player can play NTSC and PAL DVD output which is great, we receive PAL DVD from our family in South East Asia and the DVD PAL format plays perfectly on this player.

- The player comes with composite AUDIO/VIDEO output that allows you to play a DVD movie on a regular TV or Screen. You can output the video and audio signal to a bigger TV set; it works just like a regular DVD player.

- The DVD player comes with a portable battery pack that you can recharge. I have a 5 years old daughter and I will bring the battery pack with me to play the DVD player when we go a doctor's office or somewhere. You can run the DVD player by using the battery pack if there is no AC power outlet. You can watch 2 to 3 hours movie by using the battery pack. After you are done, you just have to recharge the battery again.

- The player comes with built-in speakers. This is a nice feature, because if you don't want to use headphones when you watch a movie, the player has the built-in speakers. The speakers are pretty loud and clear. The quality of the built-in speakers is pretty good.

- The player is very light and it is not heavy and bulky which I love, because I have to carry it around with me when my daughter and I go somewhere, and you can put it in a bag and carry it with you.

- You can adjust the brightness of the screen. The brightness adjustment wheel is located on the left side of the screen.

- The player comes with 2 headphone output jacks. You don't need to buy a splitter when two people want to watch movies in the airplane and need to use headphones. There are 2 headphone jacks on the right side of the player.

- This player is very easy to use. To prove my point my 5 year old daughter knows how to turn it on and off. It is amazing to watch kids these days, they are very smart. My daughter can play her DVDs on this DVD player without my help. She knows exactly where the pause button is, the skip buttons, the volume control, the screen brightness control and all the buttons.

- The player has a built-in subtitle viewer, you can use the DVD subtitle on this player.

- The player comes with all necessary cables like power cable adaptor and video/audio cable. Everything that you need to run this DVD player is all in the box, you can play it right out o the box.

What do I hate about this player?

- There is this arrow control buttons on the right side of the player, you can see it on the photo. That arrow control buttons are ANNOYING!!! Why? I have to press it very hard in order to get it to work! OK, now I have to pace my anger, it is so annoying every time I think about it. Well how do I solve problem? Well, the Kawasaki DVD player comes with a small tiny remote and the remote actually works A LOT better than the controls that are on the DVD player itself.

- The screen quality is not that great. You can watch a movie on the built-in screen clearly only at a certain angle. You have to adjust the screen if you decide to lie down from sitting position which is really annoying. You have to maintain a straight horizontal angel between your eyes and the screen to be able to see the movie on the built-in monitor.

- The DVD player feels light and cheap. I don't think the player is very durable if I drop it. I haven't dropped it yet, but I am not looking forward to drop it just to find out if it is durable or not.

- The half part of the built-in screen sometimes shows pink, blue and white lines all over and you can only see the other half of the screen. The solution for this problem is to turn the DVD player off, unplug the power cable, plug the power cable back and turn the player back on.

- The LCD screen is very delicate, you have to be careful not to press the screen too hard, or you will ruin it.

Will I recommend this player to my families and friends?

My answer is "Absolutely, yes, I recommend this player to anyone," especially if you are looking for a bargain portable DVD player that is very easy to use and loaded with a lot of features.

Conclusion

Well this is actually a great DVD player, it is very handy and it is very useful when you have kids! You can bring their favorite movies every where you go and keep them entertained. The price of the player is not that bad for the screen size. Just be aware that you will have the problems I decribed. The Kawasaki portable DVD player comes with all the necessary cables and stuff that you need in order to play it. The DVD player is very easy to use. Thank you for reading my review, I hope it has been very helpful to you, feel free to write me and give me a suggestion on improving my review. Have a great day!
