The Bottom Line:
A very cool looking machine with many diverse uses.
I bought this 24" beast back in January 2008 and I've been loving it ever since. The Core 2 Duo is fast enough for practically anyone but you do need to upgrade the RAM. RAM is cheap nowadays so I suggest you get 4 gigs and installing it yourself is not a problem. There is just a single screw on the bottom and it's just a matter of plugging them in. I've been using this to edit video in iMovie, photos in iPhoto, lots of music listening, and as a DVD player. The beautiful gigantic 24" widescreen display is amazing for watching movies or TV shows like Battlestar Galactica.
Strangely enough i've been using it a lot to record TV shows with a Mac only product called El Gato Hybrid. It is like Tivo except it has no monthly charge. I highly suggest you check out this product if you have a Mac.
As far as Apple goes they have great customer service. The computer comes with a 1 year warranty and 90 days of phone support but I believe that everyone should buy the extended service which is around $180. It will give you 3 years of service. I've owned many Apple products in the past 10 years and whenever I've had to call it gets picked up by clear English speaking folks either in Canada or somewhere in the USA. Apple also has many retail locations with tech support where you can drop off your malfunctioning product and get it fixed. It's really nice to be able to be face to face with an actual person who will be fixing your computer instead of some unknown faceless corporation that is farmed out for support.
