Overall, Pretty Good
Pros
Reasonably easy to learn to use. Setup went OK. Good feature set. Quiet.
Cons
Too much stupid software included, support, speed
Recommended it?
No
This printer was reasonably easy to set up and not too hard to figure out how to use. I like the way the scanning works as there are plenty of options that you can select and it's simple to save those settings into specific buttons for future re-use. It's a little slow, the quality is pretty good, and it's fairly quiet.
If you really like HP printers, then this is a reasonable choice. I cannot recommend it to a firiend because it took a year to get HP to take back a different model that turned out to ship with software that was utterly useless on both XP and Vista. Their support was goofy and unresponsive until I started sending complaints to upper management. They shipped me this printer as a replacement and it worked flawlessly from the start. Up until that time their attitude was first "well, it's hard to get these working on an old operating system like XP" and then when I bought a new computer they started telling me "well, Vista is hard to work with for complex things like scanners." So I'm not a fan of HP. But this printer is OK.
