The Bottom Line:
I should have taken this item back in the very beginning and gotten another printer, skipped the scanner portion.
I replaced an Epson printer with this model hoping that it could do the job of both my scanner and printer only to be very disappointed with scanner capabilities. As a printer this HP does the job for me, I do not use it for high volume. I have noticed that the ink cartridges do last alot longer than previous Epson printer did.
Scanning capabilities are poor for quality. I have another scanner that I had hoped this would replace but because of its lack of quality I could not contemplate the removal of other scanner. Scans are grainy, distorted, unclear, fuzzy quality. The ability to change settings to enhance scanning capabilities are just not available. I expect my scans to come out picture perfect the first time after all adjustments and fine tuning but found that to be not the case with this product.
This is not a high end scanner in cost but a much more pricey scanner than the one I use every day that gives me the quality I need and produce. The scanner I wanted to replace was not an expensive item, much cheaper than most on the shelves. I thought that since I was replacing the printer I would take a chance on the all - in - one.
If you are looking for a product for home use for document scanning and printing this is a decent all - in - one. However, if you want something to give you top quality, steer clear of this line. Unfortunately, I have not found HP to put much quality into any of their products for scanning capability.
The all - in - one takes up quite a bit of room, I have mine on a separate cart due to that fact.
