For the price it is a very good buy
Pros
Price, print quality, scanned image quality
Cons
Low ink capacity cartridges. Small paper tray. Takes occasional 2-5 minute noise breaks.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Good prints, good scanned image quality. Good price. Takes noise breaks from time to time. Seems heavy on expensive ink, ebay cheap brands seem OK.
I have had this printer for about three months and, aside from frequent cartridge changes (my wife has been printing LOTS of photos) no problems. Print quality is excellent, the scanner/copier image quality as good as my old stand-alone
I feed it envelopes, although it doesn't have an envelope slot like my old Photosmart 1215, and it handles them with no problem.
I bought "other brand" ink on ebay, $48 for two complete sets of 6 catridges. My local fiendly computer shop charges $12.77 per colour cartridge (I didn't need or check the price of black at the time). HP web site charges $10.99 per colour, $19.99 for black. The quality seems fine to me but maybe there is a subtle difference a keener eye might see, and maybe it isn't so resistant to fading. I will stay with the cheap brand until I see of hear reason not to.
I have a mystery problem appeared, WORD 97 dies if I try to print normally. If I do a print preview and then click the printer icon there is no problem. Very annoying and I will get around to reloading the printer driver to see if that cures it.
Overall my wife and I are happy with it
