This is the first volume of 10 to illustrate the Andrew Daneman collection of American Tintypes. Collected from a time when Tintypes were scorned by most dealers, collectors and institutions, the collection was curated from the beginning to highlight the quirky approach to image making that makes Tintypes unique. That almost no one else was interested in Tintypes made it significantly easier to become known for his interest. The main resources in the beginning were photographica dealers and shows, sales lists, auctions and other collectors. In recent years ebay has been a significant well of imagery. At the time of publication of Volume 1, Introduction the collection numbers about 3000 selected images. Each volume will illustrate 50-70 with descriptive texts.
