I have found Amazon.com quite good when ordering books but not good for other products. If, for example, a kitchen appliance doesn't work but it lasts longer than their 1-month return policy then you are pretty much up a creek. I'd stick to buying books

Delivery speed: lower than average. The sellers that operate through Amazon are much faster.

Order accuracy: excellent. They have the products and accomplish with the descriptions, but in some cases the technical specifications are not complete.

Customer service: fast but unreliable. Their answers arrive soon, but you cannot trust on them. I asked for a product that they had in stock. On January 6 I asked why it was not shipped. The answer was that for free shipping they could take 3 to 5 working days. I answered that they had planned to take more than 10 working days to January 14. They proposed to speed up the shipment by using two days shipping at no additional charge.

Some days later I found that the free shipping was not true. They changed to two days shipping and charged my credit card breaking their promise of not additional charge and without my authorization for this charge.
<br>
Overall satisfaction: I had a long and good relationship with Amazon during some years, but in the last one they are making errors and abusing of the customers.
<br>
I had presented another claim and are waiting their answer that will share here.

Good deals but slow delivery

I have only shopped at Amazon twice. Both times I purchased books. They were slow to arrive, and I could not locate the number to check my order. They give find my package option on your account screen, but it don't tell you much. I do trust them as far as giving out credit information, or selling your info. You also can get discount products. I only paid 1 penny for both book, plus shipping, but my order took two weeks longer then I thought. I guess if you don't care when it comes it would be a ok sight.

Items don't ship when promised.

I ordered several items on November 28th and choose to group all my items together in one shipment. One of the items was not going to be available until December 16th so my order was going to be delayed until then. On December 17th I received an e-mail stating another delay and that my shipment was due to arrive by the 24th now. I contacted them via e-mail (I've searched for a phone number to talk to a live person but haven't found one yet) and found that one item was delaying the whole shipment and that now the expected delivery date was December 30th. These are Christmas gifts that I ordered well in advance and now I have to go and try searching the stores for them so that I can get them in time. This is the first time that I've had a problem with them and it will be a while before I attempt to order anything from them in the future.

I have used amazon.com for years and loved it, but recently we had a TON of purchases charged to our card that we did not make. After noticing this we told them and it has taken over 6 months to resolve the issue. So while amazon is very handy, be cautious and I would not leave my credit card on the account.

Thank you for the feedback -- I was going to make a kitchen appliance purchase, but after reading the many negative feedback ratings, I will limit my experience with Amazon to ordering books only. I have had pretty good luck with those, usually. Gee, Amazon, I hope you actually read the feedback and do something to improve customer service, before you no longer have any customers to service!! Shame on you, Amazon...

Shipping Charges are Misleading

Shipping charges are very confusing. They don't tell you what they are until you get to the very last screen. Their default shipping is called "Standard Shipping". This is not, I repeat NOT, the Free Shipping they advertise. To get the Free Shipping you must click on the Shipping Icon, then click on the Free shipping option. Amazon's prices and inventory are great but their purchasing procedures leave a lot of room for a customer to misunderstand. I am sending a copy of this review to Amazon in the hope they will make it less confusing to complete an order.

WATCH YOUR SHIPPING INVOICE - Got a sale price? Double check it - as I have twice bought something at a sale price (one sale price, another time "gold box" sale price), and it shows I got the sale price on the order confirmation email, BUT when it ships they send another email - the Shipping Confirmation Email with the sale price GONE and a higher price charged to my credit card instead! I did manage to get my credit but it was a pain.

Also, when using a $25 gift certificate it showed on my confirmation email total, but when shipped the shipping invoice showed no certificate and I didn't get my $25 gift certificate taken off before they charged my credit card.

It took 3 emails (sent with copy of confirmation email as proof), and about 5 weeks, but they did finally contact me and tell me there was a "computer error" and my credit card was credited for the $25 overcharge they made.
<br>
<br>
Just be careful to save you confirmation email and check it against what your credit card is actually billed.

I have ordered many times from Amazon without a hitch. I always received what I ordered, most of the time earlier than estimated. However, all of that changed a few weeks ago. I went through the usual routine, placed my order, got the confirmation email, and thought everything was OK. That is until I received two identical boxes with identical items. I read the help section of the site and printed a return label for one of the boxes. They processed my return but deducted the shipping charge because "...your return is not the result of our error, shipping costs associated with your return will be deducted from the amount of your refund." I tried to explain that it was not my fault, but they insist that it is. Their customer service stinks! A canned answer with no attention to the customer is all you get...pitiful. Otherwise, if you want convenience and low prices on some things, Amazon is OK...just don't expect to be treated like a good customer!
