I intended to make a purchase from Amazon,but decided to read the customer reviews first.Thank God I did.With all the negative reviews,I decided to buy elsewhere.Thanks to all those who wrote,probably saving some of us a lot of problems.

The price for comparison cannot be found at the Amazon.com website and their customer service department, even after confirming the shopping.com posted price was unwilling to honor the comparison posted price. Their email response did not address the question at all and the customer service person I spoke with blamed Shopping.com as having posted the wrong price...

Amazon.com is a horrible on line retailer, after purchasing two items one got lost, and one took four weeks to arrive, also their false advertising on tracking, what they advertise is tracking is actually destination arrival not point-to-point tracking. Also the lack of concern from the customer service is atrocious.

BEWARE, Amazon advertises free shipping at www.pcmag.com for the Canon PIXMA MP780 Printer. This is NOT TRUE. Amazon charges $19.99 for shipping.

when things go wrong in amazon Marketplace, they have a nasty attitude. I have filled a complaint against them with the BBB and with the postal Inspector. they think they are above the law.

I've ordered from Amazon.com in the past with no problems, but I recently placed an order over 2 weeks ago, for just 2 videos and this being the so -called delivery date limit, I have not received them. I had a video party set up for tonight, which Amazon completely ruined. I can honestly say that I will NEVER order anything else from amazon.(con). They can take their so-called free shipping and shove it up their A**!!! I hate them now, and I'm telling all of my friends who used them, not to order from these A**holes anymore!!

Amazon.com sucks. I'm done. It will cost Amazon over $130,000.00 USD next year. <br> Shipping is outrageous. $3.95 per book from used sellers. <br> Erratic shipping on items they may or may not have, who knows; they don't, that's for sure. <br> But you don't know for sure until you order!!! <br> I just place an $8,000.00 order elsewhere. <br> No phone numbers to contact Amazon.

Shopping at amazon is kind of like playing russian roulette. You MUST make sure before you buy an item, that the item is not from a third party seller. Amazon uses a very deceptive way of showing merchandise and it can be hard to spot that Amazon is not the actual seller of the item. Amazon does not monitor the sellers like they should and all too often people are scammed out of big money. Recent practices are - you buy the item, they tell you that you item will ship on month/day then some time later they tell you it is not in stock but charge you anyway, item never ships. Huge hassle getting refunds. Overall if you are actually shopping at Amazon and not some 3rd party you should not have any problems, but buyer beware! I do not advise purchasing with this company because of deceptive practices and lack luster method of handling the 3rd party sellers.

I placed an order for Christmas presents on 12/11. All items were sold directly by Amazon. Shortly afterward, my order status said the items would be shipping soon with plenty of time to arrive by Christmas. <br> <br> By 12/21, the items still hadn't shipped so I sent an email to customer service. They responded by assuring me that the items would arrive in time for Christmas. <br> <br> By 12/22, the items still hadn't shipped so I called customer service. Once again, they assured me the items would arrive in time for Christmas. <br> <br> By the evening of 12/22, the items still hadn't shipped so I called customer service. They said the items were being placed on a truck as we spoke and they assured me the items would arrive in time for Christmas. <br> <br> On the morning of 12/23, the items still hadn't shipped so I called customer service. They indicated the items would certainly NOT be arriving in time for Christmas and there was absolutely nothing they could do. <br> <br> You will not find Amazon's customer service phone number ANYWHERE on their web site though I was able to find it elsewhere. For everyone's reference, their customer service phone is (800) 201-7575.

I received a $650.00 gift certificate for use at Amazon.com in Oct. 2003. Although I have a current balance of $400, I have now been advised that it expired. At no point do they attempt to advise me that the funds are due to expire. They refuse to reinstate the balance. Emails and phone calls (all offshore) have been to no avail.

Deceptive availability on iPod Nano

Tried to order a new iPod Nano, on their site it says 2~3 days, and it's been over a week. Checked their site again this morning, it still says 2~3 days (so I'm sure more people are ordering them expecting them within the 2~3 days) <br> This will be the last amazon.com order for me.

I had an item on order for 3 weeks. Amazon continually delayed shipment and finally cancelled the order with a "We are sorry to report that we will not be able to obtain the item from your order". During that entire time the item continued to be available on their site with several "Only x items in stock, hurry and place your order". The day they cancelled my order the updated their website to show the item, but with a higher price. They apparently can't find any items at the price they sold it to me for but there are plenty at a higher price. I'll not order from them again. <br>

A friend of mine purchased on a " special hurry and buy now", "Get in line" sale a Samsung LNR 409D LCD. <br> At least he thought he did <br> A week later Amazon sends him an email saying it all was a <br> mistake and there is no sale. <br> Sounds so cheesy and illegal. <br> It was a co-sponsored deal with Target and it was made out to sound like a few lucky people were going to get a great deal on this TV and it turns out to be a scam. <br> I hope he and all the other people that were duped by Amazon/Target write to the pertinent authorities that handle online fraud.

I ordered two DVD movies from them in the last week of October. One DVD "normally ships in 2-3 days," and the other DVD "ships in 7 days." I paid for standard shipping. After a week, they send me a lame e-mail saying both DVD's will arrive AFTER Christmas! What's the point? I cancelled both orders. They really suck. I guess it's their ploy to get me to pay more for shipping.

Sad pathetic decline of a pioneering online merchant

Amazon.com is an example of what can go wrong with something good. Amazon has evolved (devolved) into a motley crew patchwork collection of random stores. You never know who you're ordering from. Prices are often misquoted and the store is no longer price competitive with other large online merchants like buy.com and walmart.com. <br> <br> What irks me the most is this so called "free" shipping. In practice this is a gimmick bait and switch extortion ploy to get you to buy and pay for more expensive shipping. The actually shipping is just as fast as the more expensive options. What they don't tell you about free shipping is that they just don't bother to send the order to the warehouse until a week later. <br> <br> During the wait period, you have a big button ready for you to click to pay for expedited shipping. Mind you, the regular shipping is the same as the "free" shipping, with the only difference that they actually send your order to the warehouse right away. <br> <br> What a scam. <br> <br> Amazon.com has betrayed me for the last time. I will never buy from Amazon ever again. <br>

Amazon is falling apart. I had an order that hung in LIMBO for over a month because one item was on backorder. After canceling that item they still haven't shipped the other items in my order. It's been 2 more months and there was absolutely no contact information to get an update on the simple order. What's worse is their online system has been showing all of the items as being in stock this ENTIRE TIME. <br> <br> I'm now looking for a more reliable company that can give me a customer service email address or phone number.

They say "Free Shipping", but then when you go to their web site to order, they charge you $69.00 for shipping the Toshiba 32A43. That's false advertising. I'm irritated. They should have noted that in their price or at least not put "FREE SHIPPING". I'm not buying from them now.

I placed an order with Amazon on Dec 13th (for an item that was in stock and usually ships within 24 hours). Their banner on the front of their website guaranteed delivery if you ordered by Dec 17. Instead of fulfilling the order within 24 hours (or something close), they filled it 6 days later and I never got the item in time for Christmas (I still don't know where it is). Really screwed up the holiday. Customer Service was apologetic but that doesn't solve the problem. I've bought alot of stuff from them, however, with so many choices out there, why would I buy from them again? <br> <br>
