Crutchfield Online Store - Will I Buy From Them Again?
Pros: Web site is nice, lots of info, no "tricks", inexpensive shipping, return policy
Cons: Prices can be higher than in some other stores Full review I have purchased several items from Crutchfield in the last couple of years and would definitely recommend it for reliable service, good customer support and competitive (sometimes) prices. They also allowed me to return an item (Panasonic PV-VS4821 S-VHS-ET VCR) which worked fine with no questions asked and they even paid for return shipping! Web Site The web site is quite fast and well-organized. It is easy to find what you are looking for. They also have occasional free shipping offers. Plus, you can go to "Offer Zone" of AmEx web site for the link to free shipping at Crutchfield. The ordering process is easy and you can track your order easily. The order also comes with return labels you can use when you need to return an item and "Returns Made Easy" instructions. The site has a lot of information on products they sell, and, unlike sales reps in the brick-and-mortar electronics stores, who have no clue about products they sell, you can get a lot of accurate information on the product. Among items I bought were JVC HR-S3600U Super VHS VCR, a bunch of VHS and Super VHS tapes, cables and other stuff. Every time I was able to easily find what I was looking for on their web site, get detailed description, buy the items quickly and get them shipped quickly and inexpensively. There are several benefits comparing to the brick-and-mortar stores: no sales tax (important for pricey electronic items), easy to find what you are looking for, no sales pressure... Crutchfield also offers the satisfaction guarantee, so if you are not completely satisfied you can return any item within 30 days, they will even pay the return shipping. Plus, they provide free technical support for life. The "Scrath and Dent" area of the web site allows you to buy the items that are lightly scratched or have dents for lower price. They come with Crutchfield's warranty that matches the original manufacturer's. I bought a Vthat they normally sell for $229 for only $169 and it had no dents or scrathes. But YMMV (your mileage may vary). The items ship with installation instructions. My Panasonic VCR shipped with Crutchfields description of VHS and S-VHS tape grades, guide to home theatre and detailed hook-up instructions. The temptation is high to find the best price and buy the item you are looking for from the web site where it costs the least. It might not be a good idea, as my experience indicates (http://www.epinions.com/content_1485086852). Beware! The online stores sometimes advertise low prices just to try to rip you off with accessories, expensive shipping, sales tax, restocking fees, gray items with no US warranty and such. The Crutchfield is not one of them. Even though the prices might be higher than in some online stores (but lower than in some others), you can rest assured that they will not try to make you pay outrageous shipping costs or sales tax. Bottom Line Crutchfield.com can save you time, money and frustration. I used it in the past and will use it again. |
