I ordered speaker and a CD player for my car. The ad showed the speakers in stock, but the CD player on backorder with a ship date a couple of weeks later. I placed the order and shipped the speakers, but after the two weeks were up I received another email from Crutchfield stating my order would be on backorder until they received shipment from the distributor - and they didn't know when that was. Who does business with distributors that can't promise ship dates? I find this unacceptable, and at this point I don't expect to do business with Crutchfield again.

I will never purchase another product...

I will never purchase another product from this company. My initial survey to you approved of the purchasing process at that point. Everything went down hill after that even to thepoint of a phone call wanting to know where and what I was going to do with this product. Also the initial order confirmation had the right shipping address and billing address but the shipment had the wrong billing and shipping address. Fortunately the shipping address was correct enough to allow for delivery. I have been buying product from the internet for over 10 years and have not had such a poor result as I had this time. Part of the problem was that I live in Canada, on the border, and receive my product in the US. Everybody else recognizes Canadian customers and credit cards but the Crutchfield system assumes I am a terrorist living in Iran and that Canada is some third world country.
Their security system is in an overkill mode.
Their are too many other web sites that have the same product and in many cases a better price. I will shop somewhere else next time.

Crutchfield has gone downhill.

After years of good experiences with Crutchfield, they have gone downhill. I attempted to order a Sony in-dash receiver and CD changer. Crutchfield was offering a special 6-month no-interest financing. I entered all the information online. A message displayed to call the 800 number to complete processing. I called the number. I had to give them all of my information all over again. Then they told me I had to call a different 800 number. I called that number. I was connected to a person in a foreign country whom I could hardly understand. They passed me off to someone else who was extremely rude. They asked me if the first person, who I could not understand, asked me any questions. I said no, so they told me I was declined and hung up on me. I will never do business with Crutchfield again.

Purchased a TV on Dec 20 and was told it would arrive on Dec 23. When it didn't I called and was then told they would overnight ship it to arrive on Dec 24. Of course it didn't, so when I called on the 26th I was told it would ship on the 27th and arrive on the 29th. On Dec 27, I got an email with a tracking #, claiming it would be overnighted again (but didn't say when). The tracking # just says UPS has received electronic billing - not that it has ever received the TV. So now I sit waiting for the delivery - which might come today - or maybe not!! I was offered a $25 purchase voucher for the delay. Wow - wonder if I'll ever see that!!

Offers ARE subject to change

I had a promotion/coupon from the 2006 Entertainment book for $50 off a $250 purchase. When I placed the order, I placed the code in the designated field on the form. My purchase was for $279.99. When I checked on the status of my order, the discount was not taken off. When I called for clarification, they informed me that camcorders and digital cameras less than $300 did not qualify. Oh really? This was not on the promotion page. The only exclusions were the normal Bose, Apple, type items. They changed their policy.

As always, the coupon states that offers are subject to change. This is normal legal jargon that all companies use on their coupons. However, most don't actually CHANGE their offer. Crutchfield does!

Polite,but the 30 day limit on self-installed lemons is too short

After less than 2 years, the stock car stereo in my 2000 Acura Integra was jamming cds,so i bought a recommended Blaupunkt unit from Crutchfield. The self installation was much harder than i figured,with high school electronics only, and splicing 20+ wires and adapting my car dash to fit the stereo,,,and my car doors to fit the wrong size speakers they sent. So i was over the 30 DAY LIMIT ,ON LEMONS, and could not return my defective Blau CD70 that constantly skipped fm stations and cd tracks,on paved Ca. streets and highways. It has been less than 2 years,18 months, and i have returned the unit 3 times to Crutchfield and to Blaupunkt's usa rep.,and gotten it back in worse condition, with a damaged volume control and damaged TPM/track program memory. $400 wasted, junking a second unit,and shopping for a different supplier and better quality brand. Buyers,,,BEWARE !!

in stock order not shipped 8 days later

I placed an order on 12-26-05. Everything is in stock and no backorders. For two days my order status said something like "order being processed and verified." Ever since those two days it's said "Items are being prepared for shipping." It's now 1/2/06 and it's still saying that. So, if you expect to get your merchandise quickly you might as well forget it. Many people get their stuff quickly, mine hasn't even shipped yet, one week and one day later.

I complained to customer service and they said they'd give me $15 off my next order. Duhhh, there won't be a next order with service like this so what good is that?

Also, my shipping address is the same as my billing address so it's not as if they are verifying anything weird. Their reason for late shipping is they had a glitch in their "system." Well, the word "had" is past tense and it shouldn't take several more days to get things fixed.

I requested online assistance with Crutchfield Buyer Advisor and received connection to "Jodi" to assist me. I informed her of my needs (replacement speakers and audio amplifier) since I was having difficulty identifying side and center speakers in my car registered with Cruchfield from previous purchases. I ask for suggestion(s) for SPK and amp that would replace my factory equipment and gave the rep Jodi the size mounting info on the existing speaker.The advisor gave me one speaker selection and the link thereto and signed off. I had to ask for amplifier info later and was advised I did not need a replacement amplifier with the speakers that was recommended. If I did not desire and amplifier, I would not have requested one !
If I ever get the speakers I ordered, I will try them and probably send them back. I will order Speakers AND AMPLIFIER from another source at a more competeive price. See Chat Log ..... You really shouldn't blow off your customers seeking assistance.

online site stated items "fit"...umm, no, they didn't. Good thing I bought head unit and speakers elswhere for cheaper. (etronics.com)Extensive car body modification on my part was needed and speaker adapters did not adapt to factory plugs. What a load of crap...paid like $60 for install accessorries, Also recieved un-helpful & un-updated car install instructions. Total crap. Customer service was freindly and somewhat knowledgable, though.

The Crutchfield prices are usually a bit higher, however they majority of report describe a customer service that is above average. For that reason, I purchased from Crutchfield online. However ... the delivery process involved their delivery company, Eagle Delivery, calling and setting up a delivery time/date. They did not show. When I called Crutchfield from my home phone, they called Eagle and told me that Eagle attempted to contact me 1/2 hour prior to delivery and received a phone number not in service. Eagle also said that I told them not to deliver unless they called 1/2 hour prior. We made no such arrangement. For that reason they did not deliver the TV; no call, no notification to Crutchfield. When I explained to Crutchfield that I was calling from the same number, and verified the number they had on file (the same one they called to verify the internet order) they told me I had to call Eagle and re-set another delivery date time. We set up for the following day, and again Eagle failed to show or call. At this point I called Crutchfield again and asked them to set up the delivery. They said they did, and would call the following day to confirm. Neither Crutchfield nor Eagle called the following day. Again, I called Crutchfield and the operator said ... "Oops, sorry I forgot to call." For a third time I called Eagle and set the delivery date/time. This time they showed. A different Crutchfield department called 1 week later and asked if I was satisfied with my order. They called my home phone.

I believe when an item is out of stock, they need to let you know immediately, not give you a tentative shipping date. On the Shipping date not to send an email stating that the item is still backordered and you will hear something in 30 days. Especially at the Holidays.

Pretty Cruddy at Crutchfield

Just a word to the wise. I made a $300 order at Crutchfield.(I check this site for guidance and felt compelled to join because of this incident)

Three emails, two phone calls to my home and cell and they were asking for more verification. So much for the surprise factor...but worse, my credit is A-1. This was a debit card and they'd already taken it out of my bank! It's an inconvienence but I cancelled the order on principle. Thanks Epinions for being here as a service.
