What To Do When You Dont Live Near Target? Shop At Target.com!
Pros: Easy to buy from the comfort of your home, quality items...
Cons: None so far Full review Sad, Sad Story I just moved to Texas and still do not have this new town down. It is much bigger than what I am used to, and I am not the best at following maps especially with all this road construction. So I have been buying more and more stuff online. Target is one of my favorite stores but I dont think there is one anywhere close to me. Since I dont feel like getting lost in this new town yet want to get the great stuff that Target always have I started shopping at target.com. What You See If you havent been to target.com I suggest you drop by and check out what they have. The site is very colorful and makes you want to shop shop shop! The main page of target.com has a listing of the different categories to easily find what you want. Just a few are; gifts, school time, bed + bath, home furnishings, home office, baby, clothes, jewelry, music/movies/books and many more. You will also find a spot where they show their special offers or bargain buys. Always check that out, you may find something that you normally wouldnt look at. You can also sign up for their newsletter that contains specials, offers, news and more delivered right to your inbox. Just enter your email and your done! It is pretty much like the flyer you get in your home mailbox every so often. Your Account If you plan on visiting and shopping at target.com often, create an account. It will save you time in the long run. Registering is quick and easy. You are asked to fill in your name, email address, phone number (optional) and you need to choose a user name and password. Sounds simple enough right? After doing that you are able to edit your checkout settings so that when you check out it will fill in all your information so that you dont have to do it each and every time. You can edit your address book to make ordering go quickly and smoothly. Check out your order status history and check out how your current order is coming or just to see that you have spent way too much money! You can designate a school for school fundraising and learn more about Take Charge of Education. You can order prescription refills online and then pick it up in a store and also get some up-to-date health information. And finally you can view your Target E-Statement so that you can pay your Target Guest Card payments online. I feel these are all great and very useful tools so take advantage of them! Shipping Here is the shipping charge chart: $0.00-14.99 is $3.95 $11.95 $21.95 $15.00-29.99 is $5.95 $13.95 $23.95 $30.00-49.99 is $6.95 $14.95 $24.95 $50.00-74.99 is $8.95 $16.95 $26.95 $75.00-99.99 is $10.95 $18.95 $28.95 $100-149.99 is $12.95 $20.95 $30.95 $150-199.99 is $14.95 $22.95 $32.95 $200-299.99 is $18.95 $26.95 $36.95 $300-499.99 is $24.95 $32.95 $42.95 $500 - up is $32.95 $40.95 $50.95 The first column is regular shipping, the next is rush and the 3rd is express delivery. I dont think that the shipping charges are too outrageous but I do feel they are a little high. I try to buy everything I need at one time to avoid numerous charges, this was it is just one larger amount for shipping. Will I be charged sales tax? Orders shipped to Minnesota and California are subject to sales tax. The amount of tax will be calculated based on state and local sales tax rates for the shipping address. Yay no sales tax for me! Gift Wrapping If you are sending a gift to someone and dont want to have it sent to your home first and you taking the time and money to wrap and send it back out yourself, target.com offers gift wrapping. The charge is $5.00 which may seem a bit steep but remember that it costs over $4.00 to ship almost anything these days. You will also get a free Gift Message per gift wrapped item and it is included at no additional charge. Nope...Dont Like It If you end up getting you dont like or it doesnt fit or for whatever reason, returning the item is rather hassle-free. Heres what you need to do in the case of a return: First box up the item and include all packaging/accessories. Make sure to enclose the original packing receipt and also be sure to complete all necessary information. Finally ship your package to the address that they note for returns. If you want an exchange they usually get it to you within 10 days. That is rather quick turnaround time I think. Note that you can also return your item to a Target store as long as you have your original packing slip and some form of identification. Worry Free Have you ever bought something just to see a flyer with that same item only at a way lower price? Well Target has a great policy for that. If they advertise a lower price in the week of, or in the week following your full-price purchase you can bring in your original receipt to any Target Store and they will refund you the difference. Fork It Over Of course you cant expect you not pay for all this stuff right? Well luckily Target.com accepts almost all forms of payments. Most importantly they accept gift cards (up to four at a time actually) and the following credit cards: Target Guest Card, Dayton's Card, Marshall Field's Card, Hudson's Card, Mervyn's Card, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. If you are one of the unlucky ones, or should I say lucky ones that dont have a credit card, you do have another option. Target.com will also accept checks with mail-in orders. You can print the shopping cart page and remit payment to the address they have shown. Giving Back to The Community Signing up for the Target Guest Card has some great benefits. I for one do not have it so I wont go into details about it. But I will tell you what I do know and what I really like. When you make purchases using your Target Guest Card, Target will donate an amount equal to 1% of your qualifying Target Guest Card purchases to the eligible K-12 school of your choice. Schools receive their donation twice a year, and funds accumulate all year long. This may not seem like much, but when you think about how much money you spend at Target it will add up. So if you can sign up for it, I think it would be of great benefit to you and your school of choice. You can apply up for the Target Guest Card online at target.com. Registries I am sure you have heard of registries, if not they are used by people who are getting married or having babies and want to make sure their guests know what they need. This solves the worry of getting 25 toasters at your wedding or 500 baby bottles at your baby shower. The two clubs they currently have are Club Wed and Lullaby Club. You will be able to search for someone's registry by their first and last name and view what items they have chosen. Searching If you dont know which category a particular item fits into, try the search box. This is located at the top of the main page and has helped me greatly in finding what I need. Giving the Perfect Gift If you have a fussy friend that just has everything, try giving a gift card. This lets them decide what they want and what they really would use. I love giving gift certificates as it saves the hassle of finding the perfect give when you just dont have time. Gift cards are available in $10, $25, $50, $75, $100, $200, $500 and $1000. The best thing is that they are shipped for FREE! Final Notes I know I have not talked about everything that target.com has to offer so I will let you discover that on your own. But I would like to say that I am overly satisfied with the customer service I have received when something didnt go right or if I asked a question. I am in love with target.com as you dont have to deal with tons of people, out of stock items or messy stores. I recommend it to everyone who likes to shop online! |
