Have had more bad than good experiences.

I personally have not purchased anything off of eBay, but I have sold things on eBay. This experience was a little scary. You have to do your homework to make sure that you get paid. I was selling some toys that were my son's. The sale went really well. The purchaser paid promptly and gave me a good rating. Another experience was that my sister was looking for a car that was going to cost her $10,000. It was a hoax. Somehow eBay was able to fix the website so that you couldn't bid. We had emailed the guy, which he did email back trying to sell us the car. EBay is really good about contacting you if they know of a selling that is trying to rip you off. Another thing that we found helpful is that you can find out things about particular sellers that claim they own business's or have other websites. We found this quite helpful when my husband went to purchase a $2500 bike earlier this year. The price was almost too good to be true. We found other dealers that were selling this particular bike, but none could give us as good of a deal as this guy. Well I decided to type the guys name into a Google search and found a message board about how this guy was ripping people off. Someone had tracked his business address to a hotel in Wyoming. He claimed he had quite a few of these bikes to sell. Doing our homework on this helped. EBay was also alerted to the fraud and took his ad off. Whenever you deal with purchases over the Internet, you have to be as safe as you can to make sure you get what you ordered and to make sure you get your money from the person you sell too. EBay has a rating systems for sellers and buyers. If the % is high, then the person is fairly trustworthy. If not, you have to be careful. Another thing about eBay, is the different fees they add on to your ads. I got a shock on my bill, because it was higher than I thought it would be. I even added up all of what I had used for my ad, but still came up with a different number. EBay sent me a breakdown so I could see what I missed and I left it at that.
