I have used ebay probably over 500 times and have had 98% good experiences. Ebay is great for families like ours that do not live near major shopping. I can often find things on ebay very cheaply and save lots of money. I have had some great experiences and met some great individuals.

The one warning I would give is to watch who you deal with. Really check the reviews of the person first. I had one really bad experience where the seller didn't send what was promised. When I asked about it, he began to search out our personal information and harrass us. We had to go to the sheriff and also ended up at ebay headquarters. Eventually the guy was banned because he apparently had other complaints against him.

I will say that I was extremely impressed with the ebay headquarters and how knowledgeable they were about situations like mine. They were very professional and courteous and took care of things right away.

Every so often, I get a sale where the seller does not ship and I lose some money. I usually can get back all but $25 during the complaint process and it doesn't happen all that often. When it does, I just figure it is part of the cost of using ebay.

Having said that, I have saved far more than I ever lost. I have had loads of positive experiences, including a shipment we got today - which was EXCELLENT at a very reduced price.

I would highly recommend ebay, but, like anything else online, I would be careful about sharing too much information in the buying/selling process.
