I am an eBay seller and buyer since 2003.
Full review I am an eBay seller and buyer for over 4 years, I enjoy my experience with eBay with one exception, I will tell you which and why. The entire eBay application is very well crafted; it is easy to use because it is menu driven. You chose what you want from a menu and the system prompt you to a sub menu to chose from and so and so. Prices, well it is auction, this means you are at the mercy of bidders, but you can find spectacular bargains, an incredible variety of products, and if the bidding process is over your own limits, you can stop any time. The paying process is handling by Pay Pal a company eBay acquired, which, with the additions they implemented in 2006 and 2007, it really is 99.99% secure. This alone is a huge benefit. People are in general good, sellers and buyers alike, because eBay implemented a smart system, the feedback system. You must live feedback regardless if you are a seller or a buyer. This way your feedback is your reputation. If I am a buyer, and I want to buy an expensive item, I always check the seller feedback and make my mind if the seller is a serious person or not. If here are bad apples, they eliminate themselves goofing or miss representing the rules of eBay, and eBay cancels there accounts. Yes, eBay has rules and we all obey them, in my eyes this is not a restriction, it is a necessity, without rules and regulations a business cannot survive. Some people complained over the years that eBay is too restrictive with the implementation of the rules. I do not think so. For example, there is a list of prohibited items to sell on eBay, sellers and buyers must know that list. You can make a living on eBay as a seller, sure you can, you have to work hard and you will make it. I had items I listed on eBay, and 850 peoples looked over. Lets say you have a front door Store, the best products to sell, and the best location, fifth Ave. in Manhattan. You think that for just one single item, 850 potential customers will get inside your store in 5-7 days. No way, this is possible only on the Internet, which it is exposed to the World, and with a company with good reputation as eBay. Customer service of eBay is perfect because is 90% automated and this is good because nobody cannot produce any errors in calculations, the system itself would not allowed. I promise I will tell you what I do not like. Starting 31st March, eBay ban the sell of Information Products with instant delivery. It was done for a reason; some people abuse the system, but in the process heart a lot of good people as well. It definitely was an overload with Information Products, the prices drop as low as a couple of cents. Outside of eBay, later they up-sell expensive items to the list. Well now we can continue to sell Information Products only if we transform them in physical items, as CD, DVD etc. Regards Michaela |
