Linksys WAP54G Not just an Access point!

The Linksys WAP54G works great as an access point if you already have a router on your network. Within minutes you can make a wired network wireless giving mobile users the ability to roam around as they please. But what people don't realize about the WAP54G is that it's more than just an access point. It can be uses as a access point client, bridge, or wireless repeater.

When you use it as a access point client you connect it straight to your computer with a network cable. It communicates directly with another access point or wireless router. If you use POE(power over Ethernet) you can place the access point anywhere even the attic and creates lots of possibilities.

You can use it as a bridge to connect two separate physical networks. The communication link in the middle is wireless.

You can also use it as a repeater to capture a signal from another device and pass it on for other users.

One of the best things I like about the WAP54G is the site survey tool, it saves you from having to know the mac address of the access point or name of it. Just run the site survey and click the one you want it's that simple.
