Great Sound, Value.

Pros: High quality audio: clarity, bass response, accurate audio reproduction at a reasonable price
Cons: Not the best as a portable headphone, but that isn't the aim.

The bottom line: A great headphone for someone looking for a high quality, detailed, comfortable headphone that has longevity, a reasonable price and a proven track record.

Before I purchased these headphones, I had only owned the generic 20-30 dollar headphones - a pair of earbuds for travel and a pair of streetstyle phones for comfort.

I decided it was time to invest in a decent pair of headphones, and I began looking around, reading reviews and online discussions. I became aware of the vast field of high end headphone equipment, ranging from 100 to several thousand dollars. Being on a budget, I was looking at the lower end of this spectrum. After comparing my options I purchased the Sony 7506s.

These a GREAT headphones. On reason I enjoy them is that they are closed- meaning when they're on not a lot of sound gets in and pretty much NO sound gets out, so you can enjoy your music without disturbing others.

As far as sound quality, the 7506s are often referred to by audiophiles as being a very accurate headphone, meaning they don't bias the music coming through. I found this to be true. Another thing I noticed when I started using these headphones was the additional clarity and depth to the music. I could really hear all the nuances of the music. I could hear the resonance of acoustic guitar strings, the variances in an artist's voice. These headphones also have great bass response. With a 40mm driver, the bass is deep without being boxy or distorted, even at high volume.

The headphones are also very comfortable, with a padded headband and soft earcups. I can wear them for extended periods without fatigue.

Other notes about these headphones: High quality cord with gold connectors and it's coiled to reduce clutter while keeping a good length. The cord is one-sided meaning it's only attached to one earcup, which is convenient. The earcups also swivel for one-sided monitoring and to fold down the headphones for storage.

Overall, these are high quality headphones that are industry proven and have been used for 10 years or more. The next time you see pictures of a recording studio, radio broadcast station, DJ or other audio professional, there's a good chance they will be wearing the 7506 headphone.

Sony also makes the the V-60 headphone, which is arguably the exact same headphone. Much debate has been made over this topic, and the V-60 is discontinued anyway. Sony also makes the glamorous-looking V-600. This is NOT the same headphone, and is considered inferior by FAR to the 7506, despite it's good looking exterior, similar size and shape, and higher price.

While these aren't top-top-top quality headphones, they're a great way to enter the world of high quality audio without breaking the bank.
