It was inevitable that THE DUKES OF HAZZARD would leap onto the big screen, and now, thanks to Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar (SUPER TROOPERS, CLUB DREAD), it finally has. Slipping into the boots made famous by John Schneider and Tom Wopat, Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville play moonshine-selling cousins, Bo and Luke Duke. Along with their ridiculously gorgeous cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and joke-telling Uncle Jessie (Willie Nelson), the Duke boys love to get the goat of Hazzard County's most crooked law enforcement officials, including Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey) and county commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds). But when they discover that Boss Hogg is using his leverage to run them off their farm in order to turn Hazzard County into a strip mine for coal, things get personal. With the help of their faithful friends, Bo and Luke set off on their riskiest adventure yet. <br> <br> Showing his reverence for the classic 1980s show, Chandrasekhar incorporates freeze-frames, humoro... This classic Monty Python comedy, directed by Pythons Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, is a hilarious send-up of the grim circumstances of the Middle Ages as told through the story of King Arthur and framed by a modern-day murder investigation. When the mythical king of the Britons leads his knights on a quest for the Holy Grail, they face a wide array of horrors, including a persistent Black Knight, a three-headed giant, a cadre of shrubbery-challenged knights, the perilous Castle Anthrax, a killer rabbit, a house of virgins, and a handful of rude Frenchmen. <br> <br> In addition to the set pieces, the film also includes the same kind of surreal animation that Gilliam contributed to the television series. Throughout the irreverent adventures, the Python crew eschews realism in favor of anachronistic social satire, a recipe it later returned to in the 1979 biblical farce MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN. Melding the ridiculous with the sublime, the film quickly inspired a cult following, generated a host of ... Less

Back in the late 1970's and early 1980's, there was a television show about a family who lived in the rural area of Georgia and spent most of its time trying to escape the wrath of corrupt law enforcement who was constantly interfering with its livelihood. The family members always seemed to escape... Read full review »

When I was growing up, I watched The Dukes of Hazzard all the time until the show was cancelled. I can’t remember when I first heard that a movie based on the show was going to be made. Since I had liked the show so much I did figure I would go see the movie. After learning who some of the actors... Read full review »

Once in a lifetime a movie comes along that is unparalleled in it's genre. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is just such an endeavor. Nothing that came before it can hope to compare, nor anything since. This movie spurned sooo many catch phrases, phrases to which the mere allusion will bring folks... Read full review »
