The Force is with us in EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final chapter of the six-part STAR WARS series, which began a long time ago (1977) in a galaxy far, far away... and is now complete in its cyclical perfection. This visually awe-striking kaleidoscope of interplanetary imagination features the unmatched digital animation and special effects of George Lucas's Industrial Light and Magic. With pink and orange skies casting a golden sheen over magnificent landscapes through which space ships dart and light sabers flash, the spectacle of the film, while hypnotizing, is but a complement to the intense, crucial plot.

Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) remains the Jedi apprentice of master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor). Battling dark forces that threaten the Republic, the duo quickly eliminates enemy Count Dooku (Christopher Lee), and Anakin proves--as he states more than once--that his powers have doubled. An intimidating warrior with superior knowledge of the Force, Anakin becomes the ... Less

Professional Reviews
(07/01/2005, p.131, Michael Bonner): "It looks fantastic; a fully-formed universe, richly detailed down to a microcosmic level..." (08/07/2009, Stephen Holden): "Directed and produced by Abdullah Oguz, BLESS has ravishing cinematography by Mirsad Herovic and a mystical score by Mr. Livaneli that match the novel's feverish, poetic language."

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (2005) -- Who could have done this?

Pros Spectacular visuals, Anakin and Padme finally get real, ungodly lightsaber battles!
Cons Sheeeeeeit.
Recommended it? Yes

It's hard to remember specific details. People gathered in clusters of five or six, a rock radio station was camped out right outside the movie theater, playing "Heavy" by Collective Soul. It was 11:25 at night. Oh yeah, and it was raining.

After a 15-minute wait at the concession stand... Read full review »

Ummm...Did Everyone Else See The Same Movie As Me?

Pros Vader's mask looks cool. Integral part of the Star Wars six-ogy.
Cons The acting. And Padme gives birth the the HUGEST newborns ever. And they were premature!
Recommended it? No

Picture Darth Vader stretching his arms out and screaming "Noooooo!" when he learns Padme is dead. It takes a good actor to pull the ole' "noooo" scream off. Hayden Christensen is not. In fact, he's pretty horrible. That part would fit better in Spaceballs or the gag reel of the DVD. I groaned from... Read full review »

Gorgeously photographed, compellingly acted Turkish genre-blending film

Pros cinematography, cast
Cons Irfan seems too-good-to-be-true, Jemal's part is underwritten, undernourished bonus...
Recommended it? Yes

If I had not just returned 48 hours earlier from three weeks in Turkey, the 2007 film “Mutluluk” (Bliss) would have inspired me to want to go there. Though the skies of an unusually cold spring were generally leaden, I know that the mountains, lakes, and seacoasts of Turkey are very... Read full review »

Ignorance Is Not Always Bliss

Pros Excellent story, good pacing, developed and balanced characters.
Cons The broader plot was predictable (but timed well enough to keep things interesting).
Recommended it? Yes

When ignorance has its roots in meaningless customs that place a misguided sense of honor above human life...it simply is not bliss. That is the premise at work in the 2007 Turkish film Bliss. The United States box office for this film barely reached $40,000 which must have been due to...
