Nikon Travelite V binocular utilizes precision ground, multicoated optics, and high index BaK4 prisms for true color rendition, maximum sharpness and enhanced light transmission. It also uses aspherical eyepiece lenses which provide a very flat viewing field and offer markedly improved edge-to-edge sharpness over many conventional lenses. With 25mm objective lenses for maximum light gathering and a Close focus distance under fourteen feet, the Travelite V binocular is well suited to many uses. Less

12x36 IS II Image Stabilisation binoculars... Improvements to the objective lens assembly have resulted in the binoculars being approximately 26% lighter and 10% smaller than the 12x36 IS model they replace. And reductions in power consumption mean a massive 270% increase in battery life of up to four hours using two AA-size alkaline batteries. With any high magnification binoculars, most users will experience frustrating image shake. Unless fixed to a tripod, image shake can render high magnification binoculars useless. Canon's IS technology is remarkably effective at eliminating this problem and is widely used by the television industry with Canon's professional broadcast quality video recording equipment. A special VAP (Vari-Angle Prism) corrective IS system sits between the objective lens group and the porro prism on each side of the binoculars. Within thousandths of a second of the binoculars being moved from their optical axis by vibrations, a detection system activates the IS mechanism. Less

Pros Compact, quality construction, excellent image quality, solid adjustment control
Cons Only if you're unfamiliar with zoom binos or high-power optics. Otherwise, none.
Recommended it? Yes

Nikon is an excellent choice for any optical gear. These binos are solidly built. The focus, diopter, zoom, and eye-span adjustments all have an appropriate level of resistance (not too loose or too stiff). The image is free of appreciable spherical aberrations at all magnifications and is crisp to... Read full review »

Cons None, other than normal limitations of any compact zoom binoculars, e.g., smaller FOV.
Recommended it? Yes

If you like the idea of relatively inexpensive, lightweight, compact zoom binoculars, then look no further. I just got my pair of Nikon Travelite V Zoom (8-24 x 25 CF) nocs, and I already LOVE them.

Don't let the bird watching crowd talk you out of getting a pair of zoom binoculars,... Read full review »
