Pros Superb optical performance, reasonable cost.
Cons Expensive to upgrade to for beginners.
Recommended it? Yes

The Orion ED80 80mm refractor was a breakthrough when it appeared in 2003.  If I had to sum up what it has done, it has simply redefined the landscape for APO refractors.  While some sibling designs such as the Celestron 80ED appeared, it is the Orion ED80 which came first, and clearly is...
