JVC's HDD based Everio line has always been promising, but everyone is pining for more room for video, especially in a camera with no way to swap in more media when you're running out of space. JVC is giving up the good stuff with its 30GB GZ-MG37 camera. At the highest quality, the 30GB model records 7 hour of video, with a 680k CCD and a powerful 32x optical zoom. Less

The Sony DCR-SR47E Handycam Camcorder has a built-in 60GB hard disk drive which offers extended, hassle-free recording and a professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens delivers sharp, high resolution images. For close-ups, you will appreciate a powerful 60x optical zoom. Hybrid technology even allows you to record video to the hard drive or optional Memory Stick Duo media. This camcorder supports a direct connection with the VRD-P1 DVDirect DVD burner (sold separately), which allows you to burn DVDs directly from your camcorder without the need for a PC. Pros Great concept! Extremely user-friendly. Powerful zoom. Extra features.
Cons EXPENSIVE! Video quality is questionable. 16:9 files stretched back to 4:3 when played.
Recommended it? Yes

It took me several months of waiting for a good deal on some new technology. I heard enough stories about miniDV, DVD etc. from friends and I think those cameras are not really user-friendly and convenient... Got a good deal at Costco for this one, recently, and just before taking my son to the... Read full review »

Truly Digital Video

Pros excellent videos, easy file transfer, easy archiving of files
Cons no viewfinder, worthless still camera, proprietary video file format

The JVC Everio GZ-MG37 is a leap forward in integration for the digital home.

Over the years I had been happy with my previous camcorders, including a now historic 1984 over the shoulder VHS model. I have usually waited for quantum leaps in technological features before making a new... Read full review »

I got this camera as a holiday present from my family.  I have been using one of the early FLIP cameras until now and this Sony DCS-SR47 camcorder is a great upgrade.
The camera produces good quality video. In no time I was recording gift exchanges, children's playing sketches and... Read full review »

Super little camcorder

Pros lightweight easy to use.
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

This thing is so light, you will be surprised.  I had used an older camcorder and would get cramps holding it up while taping.  Not with this.  It's a snap.  The menu is pretty simple to follow.  The rotating view finder makes it easy to shoot at any angle. Read full review »
