The Nikon D2Xs shares many performance and design innovations with the D2X. It also offers Nikon's acclaimed DX-format CMOS image sensor capturing 12.4 million effective pixels per image, producing 4,288 x 2,848-pixel images with the high resolution and sharp detail needed for demanding professional assignments. The D2Xs, however, also introduces a range of revised features that make operation significantly more responsive – including refined viewfinder performance that makes for easier composition when shooting in Nikon's exclusive High-Speed Crop mode, a new 2.5 inch LCD with a 170-degree wide viewing angle calibrated at the factory to ensure consistent color fidelity, significantly increased battery life and a wide range of firmware enhancements. The Nikon D700 SLR Digital Camera brings professional imaging with a full frame image sensor to a lightweight yet durable camera body. It features the exclusive 12.1 Megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, measuring 23.9 x 36mm, which is nearly identical to the size of a 35mm film frame - thereby eliminating any significant crop factor or focal length multiplier. Images taken with the D700 exhibit exceptional overall quality, broad tonal range and depth, along with extremely low-noise throughout its expansive ISO range of 200 to 6400. Nikon's exclusive EXPEED Image Processing System is central to driving the speed and processing power needed for many of the camera's features; such as the 51-point auto focus system and speedy 5 fps frame advance, and the camera incorporates many of the features that have made point-and-shoot digital cameras so popular - such as Live View, Auto ISO, and in-camera image enhancement. Big & heavy, but super-fast, sturdy, & great images

bymdifanis Nov 4, 2007
13 Helpfuls 14 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Fantastic speed & accuracy; excellent image quality; large, bright viewfinder
Cons High-ISO images tend to have more noise than Canon; heavy
Recommended it? Yes

The D2Xs is my third D-SLR. I purchased my first D-SLR, a Fuji FinePix S2 Pro in January 2003, followed by a Nikon D70 (as a backup body) in 2005. I use my photography equipment for a combination of uses. I am a full-time real estate professional, so I depend on my D-SLR for architectural images. I... Read full review »

Top Level Digital SLR

bybinali Feb 7, 2008
12 Helpfuls 13 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Hundreds of features built into one super tough camera.
Cons Heavy, Expensive, Big. Consider D200 if amateur like me.
Recommended it? Yes

As an amateur photographer I bought a D2X because D200 was not available at that time and my -47C Siberia tested D100 was barely satisfactory for my needs.

D2X is a special machine. It has so many features that you really need to sit down and study. Some of these features are for... Read full review »

A D3 in D300 clothing. a great camera but not a great value

byehwang Sep 21, 2008
21 Helpfuls 22 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Great image quality. High speed, low noise. No focal-length factors. Weatherproof...
Cons Price. You could buy 2 D300s for one D700. DX lenses crop to 5.1 megapixel
Recommended it? Yes

I bought the D700 as my primary camera and relegated my D300 to backup status. All I really wanted was a second body but in hindsight I think the D700 is overpriced for the image quality improvements and the few additional features it offers.

First a little background. I have been shooting... Read full review »

Affordable (relatively speaking) Full Framed DSLR

byrogerngaw Jun 6, 2009
15 Helpfuls 16 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Weather sealed, great high ISO performance, fast, good battery life, sharp, relatively...
Cons No movies mode, no articulated LCD.
Recommended it? Yes

Just a few short years ago, "full framed" DSLRs belonged to the realm of the well-to-do and professionals. The Canon full framed models were priced beyond the reach of ordinary amateurs and enthusiasts.

How times have changed. Now, for less than $3,000, you can get full framed (or as Nikon... Read full review »
